Europe
The UNOY Europe regional network comprises 19 organisations across 14 countries.
Some members are based in relatively peaceful countries, where they tackle social injustice and exclusion. Others are present in post-conflict or frozen-conflict contexts, where memories of violence, war, and their devastating repercussions are still fresh–even many years after peace agreements. This encourages our members to be directly engaged in dialogue, reconciliation, and justice.
~ Giorgi, former Regional Coordinator
While covering a wide range of thematic areas (due to different national contexts), member organisations of the Europe regional network share certain main lines of work: creative and constructive conflict transformation; human rights and intercultural dialogue; and sustainable peace and integration. More recently, European members have also focused, through capacity development and peer-learning, on addressing harmful narratives to counter disinformation and hate speech. This has resulted in the publication of The Young Peacebuilders’ Guide to Tackle Harmful Narratives.
Looking ahead, the UNOY Europe regional network aims to strengthen civil initiatives and advocacy efforts towards more meaningful youth participation in bilateral and multilateral platforms.
