Young Peacebuilders Forum 2019

Leaving No Youth Behind Through Resolution 2250 & Agenda 2030

What an incredible opportunity it was for so many inspiring young peacebuilders to come together from around the world and learn from one another, exchange information, and grow together. It is only upwards from here! ~ Banin, STAND (Canada)

What is the Young peacebuilders forum?

The Forum is our main networking event; this one was UNOY's 5th edition, with a special twist. It took place in Bogota, Colombia, with a strong regional emphasis bringing together 60 young peacebuilders.

In July 2019, the Forum provided a unique space to build concrete and meaningful partnerships beyond mere networking. The four-day event saw multi-angled discussions around the role of global agendas in peacebuilding processes in the Americas and beyond, engaging with a range of relevant stakeholders, such as representatives from the Colombian Truth Commission (Comisión de la Verdad) and the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz).

Why we need it?

The Forum is an opportunity to develop peer-to-peer cooperation among young peacebuilders around conflict transformation.

Participants had a platform to share their work, their knowledge, and build regional networks. A momentous event, such as the Forum, also increases visibility of the positive contributions young people are making to transform their communities. This is especially important for those working in less visible contexts, to create a unified movement and connect them to relevant stakeholders who can support their invaluable work for peace.
