The Asia-YAT was created for strategic advocacy towards the operationalisation of the YPS agenda in the region.
Formed in 2021, the Asia-YAT envisions that the participation of young peacebuilders and youth peacebuilding organisations in Asia is meaningful and recognised in peace & security conversations, planning, policy and implementation.
The team offers a collaborative space for young peacebuilders in Asia and equips them with competencies that enable them to have an enhanced role in the national and regional peace & security discourse. One way this is done is through frequent learning and strategising sessions to deepen members' understanding of YPS advocacy and develop strategies.
The Asia-YAT works to advance peacebuilding efforts through the creation and translation of advocacy materials in local languages, carrying out advocacy missions, hosting radio shows, and organising awareness-raising events. Additionally, they help establish and strengthen national-level coalitions and networks on YPS.
Asia-YAT is currently made up of a total of 12 young people from youth-led peacebuilding organisations from 7 countries of South and Southeast Asia, with an age range of 22-29 years.
