The Am-YAT unites young peacebuilders across the Americas to strengthen youth-led advocacy and advance the implementation of international and regional YPS frameworks.
Launched in May 2024, the Am-YAT advocates for the participation of youth in peacebuilding processes and decision-making institutions through research, workshops and campaigns, as well as ongoing peacebuilding and development work by grassroots organisations.
Together, the Am-YAT promotes the positive role of young people in building peace. By transforming limited perceptions of youth, the Am-YAT brings visibility to youth-led community efforts as a basis to advocate for their increased space and voice in the regional peace architecture.
In December 2025, the Am-YAT was awarded the 2025 Youth Carnegie Peace Prize for their flagship research report, Catalyst for Change: Youth Leadership in Rights, Diversity and Social Cohesion Across the Americas.
