Youth for Peace DRC
Youth for Peace DRC is a youth-led organisation to promote the participation of Congolese youth in peace efforts and processes through joint actions between member structures.
To achieve this noble mission, the Youth For Peace DRC network has set the following objectives to bring youth structures to integrate aspects of peace in their various activities:
- To sensitise and strengthen the capacities of youth on peaceful conflict resolution, active non-violence, internal security, leadership and group dynamics, citizen participation, good governance, democracy and the exercise of public freedoms and other similar themes;
- To conduct lobbying and advocacy at the national, regional and international levels for the inclusion of youth in decision-making bodies and the peace, security and reconciliation process;
- To set up a networking system for youth organisations working in the field of peace in order to contribute to the consolidation of democracy and sustainable peace in the DRC;
- To identify and document the initiatives of youth structures for a more significant impact
To achieve their objectives, they conduct the following activities:
- Organise conferences, forums, seminars, training for and with its member structures in order to equip them on themes related to its objectives;
- Conduct lobbying and advocacy with governmental and non-governmental partners to support youth initiatives;
- Mobilise funds to financially support the activities of youth structures aimed at promoting resilience in the face of conflict and violence;
- Provide technical and institutional support to youth structures to make them more dynamic, solid and free from political manipulation for propagandistic purposes.
