How Youth Respond to Terror in Lahore, Pakistan

Written by Shahid Rehmat, Executive Director of UNOY member, Youth Development Foundation

In Lahore, Pakistan, about 30 students, including Christians and Muslims, formed a human chain around a 17th century mosque, protecting Muslims attending Zuhr prayers in the wake of the Data Darbar terror attack.

UNOY member, Youth Development Foundation (YDF), organised the solidarity trip to Wazir Khan Mosque, located in the walled city of Lahore, on May 12th, just three days after the May 8th blast near the entrance of the crowded Data Darbar that left 13 people dead.

The visit was part of the diversity tour during which university students visited a church and a gurdwara, where prayer leaders briefed them about their respective religious practices. Concerns for the security of religious places of worship have heightened following the tragedy amid the holy month of Ramadan.
