About the Cross-Regional Activity
The Europe/MENA Cross-Regional Activity, held from June 4-6, 2024, in Tirana, Albania, brought together 30 young peacebuilders, all members of the UNOY Network, from Europe and the MENA Region. This initiative provided a platform for knowledge exchange, peer-to-peer cooperation, and the development of concrete peacebuilding partnerships, empowering local peacebuilders to navigate regional complexities and contribute to building sustainable peace. During the Europe/MENA activity, participants had the chance to attend more than 12 sessions on topics such as advocacy, storytelling, digital protection, wellbeing, and resilience.
Objectives
Enhance Capacities: strengthen UNOY members' skills through targeted workshops, training sessions, and knowledge exchange to empower effective peacebuilding.
Foster Cross-Regional Collaboration: facilitate connections between young peacebuilders, encouraging the exchange of best practices, experiences, and strategies to promote peace across diverse cultures.
Promote Sustainable Partnerships: establish long-term partnerships at individual and organisational levels to enhance the stability and resilience of the UNOY network.
Design a Manifesto for Europe-MENA Solidarity: develop a strategic plan with concrete steps and initiatives to foster long-term solidarity and sustainable exchange of ideas between member organisations in both regions.
[This event was] a valuable opportunity to enhance communication and understanding between different cultures. This type of event can contribute to raising awareness about the importance of dialogue and international cooperation in building a sustainable and peaceful future.
